FluoroSyl 880 is a perfluoropolyether coating with good durability, lubricity and abrasion resistance. On glass the coating provides good anti-reflective and oleophobic properties. 880 is recommended for glass and other oxide-rich surfaces for fingerprint resistance, stain repellency, and reduced ice adhesion. 880 on mesh and filters forms an excellent anti-fouling agent. FluoroSyl 880 at 100% concentration is a good replacement for Fluorolink S10.

Transparent: Yes
Refractive Index: 1.3
Density: 1.5 g/ml
Static contact angle to water (2 µl): >95°
Static contact angle to mineral oil (20 µl): >50°
Contact angle after 5,000 cotton rubs @ 2.5 g/sq-mm: >90°
Application method: Clean glass or metal with cerium oxide and water made into a paste using a swirling motion and rough cloth or paper towel. Then rinse with water and dry the substrate. Alternatively, the glass or metal surface can be cleaned by use of oxygen or argon plasma. Apply 880 immediately after surface preparation. Spritz and spread-on 880 using a rubber squeegee. Allow 880 to dry for 2 hours or more. Using a soft cloth, wipe off any haze or cloudiness. The glass or metal should now repel water, oil, paint, ice and other materials. After the cleaning step, 880 can also be applied by dipping, spraying and vapor deposition.
