Hydrophobic and Oleophobic Additives

Surfactants are used as dispersing, wetting, and leveling agents. These surfactants are also used as hydrophobic and oleophobic additives for coatings and polymers.

CytoN 561 is a 100% or 25% solids, non-reactive, ethylene glycol based polymeric surfactant compatible with most polar solvent based inks, coatings, resists and emulsions.

CytoN 562 is a 100% or 25% solids, non-reactive, ethylene glycol based polymeric fluorosurfactant compatible with most polar solvent based inks, coatings, resists and emulsions.

CytoN 563 is a 100% or 20% solids, non-reactive, ethylene glycol based polymeric fluorosurfactant compatible with water-based inks, coatings, resists and emulsions.

CytoN 7298 is a highly active 100% solids hexafunctional acrylate that is compatible with most polar formulations. Cationic cure; adds lubricity, repellency, weather resistance.

CytoN X80 is a highly active >80% concentration siloxane polymer that is compatible with most polar formulations (including IPA and ethyl acetate). At 0.5% adds lubricity, low surface energy, water-repellency, and increased water contact angle.

CytoN T100 is a highly active >90% concentration siloxane polymer that is compatible with most polar formulations (including IPA and ethyl acetate). At 0.5% adds lubricity, low surface energy, water-repellency, and increased water contact angle.

CytoN 37B is a >25% concentration siloxane polymer that is compatible with most polar formulations (including IPA and ethyl acetate). At 0.5% adds lubricity, low surface energy, water-repellency, and increased water contact angle.

CytoN 372B is a 25% concentration polymer that is compatible with water-based formulations. At levels of 5% or less this surfactant adds lubricity, low surface energy, water-repellency, and increased water contact angle. 372B increases the hydrophobic and oleophobic properties, which can significantly improve the water- and oil-repelling behavior. The additive increases leveling, surface slip, water resistance, and weather resistance. CytoN 372B can also be used to improve ice and tape release properties.

CytoN 50N is a >90% concentration siloxane polymer that is compatible with most polar formulations (including IPA and ethyl acetate). At 0.5% adds lubricity, low surface energy, water-repellency, and increased water contact angle.

CytoN-IBM is a an additive used to reduce the surface tension of solvent-based coatings and to make them hydrophobic and oleophobic.  IBM also improves leveling properties, ice and snow repellency of dried films.  In some applications IBM reduces craters, pinholes, and orange peel in solvent-based ink and coatings. CytoN IBM is typically used at 5% weight of the solvent-based paint.

CytoN TFMA-6 is a hydrophobic and oleophobic dry-melt additive for polypropylene and polycarbonate.  TFMA-6 is commonly used to manufacture low retention polypropylene pipette tips.  When compounded into polypropylene at a concentration of 0.4 to 1%, injection molded devices display significantly reduced surface energy and water contact angles between 100-115°.  When TFMA-6 is compounded into polycarbonate at 0.4%, water contact angles increase from ~85° to ~104°.  TFMA-6 is TSCA, REACH, and RoHS compliant.
